Terms and Conditions for Google Integration with Home Assistant

Last Updated: July 24, 2025

By enabling and utilizing the Google integration with your Home Assistant instance, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms govern your use of the integration and define the relationship between you, your Home Assistant instance, and Google's services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By proceeding with the setup and use of this integration, you signify your explicit agreement to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not enable or use the integration.

2. Integration Purpose

This integration is provided for personal, non-commercial use to facilitate the control and interaction of your Home Assistant-managed devices with Google Assistant and related Google services. It is designed to enhance your smart home experience by enabling voice commands and device synchronization through Google's ecosystem.

3. Data Collection and Usage

  • Device Data: You understand and agree that by enabling this integration, Home Assistant will expose information about your configured devices (e.g., device names, types, states, attributes, room assignments) to Google's Home Graph API. This data is used by Google to enable voice control, display device states in the Google Home application, and facilitate smart home routines.
  • Command Data: Voice commands issued through Google Assistant targeting your Home Assistant devices will be processed by Google's servers. Home Assistant will receive and execute these commands.
  • State Reporting: If enabled, Home Assistant will actively report device state changes to Google's Home Graph API to maintain synchronized device status in the Google Home application.
  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII) Shared by Integration: This integration is designed to share device and state data. It is not intended to directly transmit your personal identifiable information (such as your name, email address, or precise location data, beyond what is inherent in controlling devices within your home) to Google via the smart home integration itself, beyond what is necessary for Google's core service functionality and your Google Account linking.
  • Google's Privacy Policy: Your use of Google Assistant and other Google services remains subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You are responsible for reviewing and understanding Google's policies regarding data collection, usage, and privacy.

4. No Warranties

This integration is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the integration will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the creators, maintainers, or contributors of this integration be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the integration; (ii) any conduct or content of any third party on the integration; (iii) any content obtained from the integration; and (iv) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), or any other legal theory, whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage, and even if a remedy set forth herein is found to have failed of its essential purpose.

6. Your Responsibilities

  • External Access & Security: You are solely responsible for ensuring the secure external accessibility of your Home Assistant instance (e.g., through HTTPS and appropriate network configuration). Any security breaches or unauthorized access resulting from your external setup are your responsibility.
  • Google Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials used for this integration.
  • Compliance: You agree to use this integration in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, as well as Google's policies and terms of service.

7. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. By continuing to access or use our integration after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the integration immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
